Woodlathe and Turning

I collected, cut, and stuck together thin pieces of wood for turning material.

These images document the process of making a spindle, which later on became the spindle of the hammer.


Due to wood glue failure in Image 1 below, I chose to use a thick wood scrap piece for the top of my mallet.

Put it on the lathe, turned, and drilled a hole.


Since the mallet top is relatively small, I cut the spindle in half.

I measure the depth of the mallet hole, turned and trimmed the spindle to fit the hole.

Then I assembled them together, and created this simple rustic but kinda cute mallet.
